Barium
Ba, 99%, 99.5%, 99.97% pure
Pieces, Pellets and Sputtering Targets
Application Overview:
Barium (Ba) is a soft, silvery metallic element with atomic number 56. Due to its high reactivity with air, pure barium is not naturally found in nature. It readily oxidizes in the presence of water and carbon dioxide and reacts strongly with water and alcohol, producing hydrogen gas.
Laboratory and Industrial Uses:
- Deposition Processes – Used in evaporation techniques during material deposition.
- Vacuum Tube Technology – Historically employed as a getter to remove residual gases.
- Electro-Ceramics – Plays a role in specialized electronic applications.
- Steel and Cast Iron Manufacturing – Added to alloys to refine microstructure by reducing carbon grain size.
