Carbonyl Sulfide gas is a colorless gas with an unpleasant odor and is very toxic. The smell is that of "rotten eggs". COS is also a flammable gas. Normally it is shipped as a liquefied gas under its vapor pressure of 160 psig (21.1oC).
Applications:
COS is useful for the synthesis of the chemical compounds like Thioacids, Substituted Thiozoles, S-Trisubstituted Carbinols and Substituted Thiocarbamic Acids.
