Iron (III) Oxide Powder

99.5% pure

Synonyms:                   Ferric Oxide

Iron (III) Oxide is used as a pigment in paints, coating and is used for coloring of concrete.  Iron oxide is also used in thermalite.

Iron (III) Oxide is a low cost, non-toxic, environmentally safe catalyst for many chemical reactions such as oxidation of carbon monoxide, reduction of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide by CO, photocatalytic splitting of water, and in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons.  It is also used in the catalytic decomposition of industrial dyes, in water-gas shift reactions, for nucleation of diamonds, conversion of phenolic and other environmentally harmful aromatic compounds.  Iron (III) Oxide has been used in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene and catalytic oxidations of various organic compounds.  It is used in magnetic storage devices and in the production of iron, steel and alloys.

Iron (III) Oxide functions as a catalyst in the chemical oxidation of hydrogen peroxide used in the treatment of contaminated water with hydrogen peroxide.
