Triphenyl Bismuth, as a contrast agent, is used as an additive in medical and dental devices which may remain in the body so that and the implants improve the visibility of internal bodily structures in an X-ray image.

It is also used as a thickened pyrotechnic agent for increased performance of incendiary devices.

Triphenyl Bismuth is used as the solidifying catalyst for butyl hydroxyl propellant of high combustion velocity, based on military standard which is added to the fuel of a rocket as curing agent.
